World Faire

The Exposition Universelle in Paris was quite certainly the highlight of my year, as well as some millions of other people that had attended. Throughout the faire were many technological inventions-- I especially am excited for further development of Mr. Bell's multiple telegraph and Mr. Edison's "light bulb". The food especially was quite high-quality. Many exotic foods sold tasted very authentic.

There were many interesting exhibits that presented innovations even I had not read in the paper. The potatoes brought to Ireland were sold by a botanist Luther Burbank, who has developed more than 800 strains of plants! Another area showcased advancements in the vaccines that prevent us from getting diseases, a highly modern field in medicine. I especially enjoyed how it went into the detail of how they work. Further exhibits showed new and innovated art forms, such as Art Nouveau, Impressionism, and Romanticism. It takes so much skill to simply learn an art form-- imagine what and artist you have to be in order to create a whole new type. It is only fitting that we celebrate the turn of the century with a grand display of what the world has achieved.
